FFXIV definitely feels very "Final Fantasy" to me, loosely speaking, and its world/setting has a lot to offer. I'm mainly playing for the story and characters, which have been hyped up for ages, so I do hope it delivers. ARR/2.0 was a bit of a slog but it had some exciting moments.

Yeah, as a whole it's a very marmite experience for folks, depending on what bits they do/don't end up liking, but there's definite good stuff in there though, don't worry!

Best of luck with your adventure. It's been a few years, but I do remember the cutscene of my character walking into Ishgard for the first time giving me goosebumps 👍

Mm, that little audio-visual bit was great! I think the first "whoa!" moment for me was when you fight Shiva and there's a phase transition mid-battle where she stomps her foot and the music changes. That was pretty well done.

Yup, the Shiva trial from post-ARR was a great fight, both in phases and grandeur. I'd like to say there are interesting fights in HW too, but I'm sure you'll come across them when you do

been playing dragon quest x myself, it feels more like a multiplayer DQ game rather than a MMO if y'know what I mean.

I'm glad I finally gave in and powered through ARR. There's a lot to appreciate for sure. Really looking forward to more. After this and Fantasian, I'm totally in an FF mood now 😊
