As far as I know whole strand-type gameplay of collaborative path building that is like core of this genre got patented by Sony so we will not see any similar game anytime soon
It’s so difficult to even articulate how Death Stranding is designed entirely around how people can help one another without ever meeting, and the reason it’s effective is because of how narrow that scope is
You could probably get a similar feeling from a minecraft world, but the actions of other players in Minecraft are both transformative and destructive. To facilitate the central themes of Death Stranding it's downright impossible to grief other players because your only options are cooperative
Even just the "Like" button being something you can mash to make a number go up makes it a metric completely meaningless as a form of competition or clout, existing only as a means of positive emotional reinforcement to the person you're giving Likes to
The relative anonymity and transient nature of the shared world also means it's highly unlikely for any one person to be renowned by a larger playerbase - but if you run into the same name multiple times, they might be renowned to you for the convenience they provided
I get a similar vibe from the No Man's Sky expedition events, on the last one I ended up using three or four bases all made by the same guy. Was really cool, cos they'd left enough supplies to help anyone with specific quests. I was very grateful to them, but no way to tell them!
