Oh mood. Everytime a multiverse gets mentioned I have to roll my eyes. The concept was fun till Marvel took it to an extreme and so many followed. Some entries feel so low effort even.

I was trying very hard not to mention Marvel as there are a lot of other media that have done the same but you're 100% right they ran it into the ground by overdoing it 😭 sometimes they introduce characters like they matter so much but you have NO IDEA why and that doesn't make a story compelling

Marvel is sadly the mainstream example on how to ruin it. Going from 3 movies to 10 series, 6 movies just to understand why a minor character is there. Uhm no??

I'm on the same boat too, it's too much. Tho, I do have multiple stories I plan to make comics of that link together.

It's a universe definitely but my goal is to NOT have people needing to read 50 things to understand it. It's connected but I'd like to give the choice.

We need more choices ^^

After Infinity War, I basically fell out of Marvel. I love the characters and their struggles and their own story along with a shared story....

I think it gets too far when EVERYTHING is at stakes all the time. Feels like doom-doom-gloom and not so fun to enjoy anymore.

Oh I hope I haven't discouraged you from doing so!! There's definitely ways to make it work and I do believe people can do it, just not corporations who clearly want to sell you on Another Thing they made 😭

I feel like we might be using multiverse to mean shared universe?

In case we're not, I do think that using a multiverse (different versions of same settings or characters) to introduce new ideas or characters into the main universe is narratively lame

I LOVE having the option to engage with the extended texts to deepen my understanding of the story. It doesn't detract from the main experience and I often go out of my way to do it anyway- but if media refers to THE BATTLE OF SOANDSO OOOH THE RAMIFICATIONS and it's hidden in some other media?-
