Expression is fine, workplaces could discriminate openly but they already made up reasons. Trans can’t serve in the military(I wouldn’t want to) One place you will be censored is public libraries, you know the place that everyone gets all their information/s. It’s less harsh then a lot of people say

I think you forgot transphobics will think the government is on their side when they want to attack trans people. Especially in red States. So their safety is at risk and many of them have to change state to go to the Coast or outright leave the country.

I see the argument, but I live in a red state(and have been in a few others) and it’s hard to find a single person that isn’t transphobic to some degree, I genuinely think it can’t get much worse without taking away rights federally, which allows protests to happen on the coasts.
