The main reason I'm rooting for the economy to crash as soon as possible, and I'm glad Trump did the tariff shit is because this moment requires quick action & the sooner everyone is in pain the sooner we can act. The priority is the removal of the cancer that is Trump then we can be on life support
Of course, we've got maybe until the year to act, America wakes up slowly from winter. So we don't really have the time to wake up from another winter.
I hear this a lot -- maybe if we nip it in the bud, the pain may be just a year. I doubt it. I think many business shutterings are locked in, tourists won't come back for a while, and allies will look for better relationships. Remember, the Trump voters and the propaganda channels are still here.
I'm nervous about predicting the future, but this can be a lost decade or even a generation. Let's see if there's a really bad brain drain. Of course, climate change certainly isn't getting any easier, so we're also climbing out of a pit that's getting steeper every year.
Yes, climate change isn't going to make this any easier but if we can rise up and remove this mad king this year. We'll have a fighting chance. Honestly, frankly that's why I'm rooting for economic hardship & glad Trump did the tariff nonsense because pain is the only thing that will wake up America
The sooner the better. Thus why I've been all for the boycotts by our former allies, the American people need to get what they voted for ASAP & only after crashing into the wall that is reality maybe can we pick up the pieces.
I'm not saying the pain will be just this year, we'll be dealing with the consequences for decades. I'm saying there is a short window to restore liberal democracy but even then it's a long road to a second Republic & we'll be living with a zombie Republic for a while.
First things first, we remove the cancer that is Trump ASAP. Then the nation will be on life support, and while getting rid of Trump is the most important part because the cancer will kill us ASAP. We need accountability all the way down. Real accountability.
You could remove Trump tomorrow and we'd still have a massive problem. His economic grade is low but half of the American people still approve of his attempts to "fix" immigration. They like his other chaos too. Trump isn't the root cancer but is more the malignant tumor that you can see.
