In as much as we can say "own" we are fortunate that the traditional owners appear to be in agreement with PM Carney. As our indigenous neighbours say we do not own the land but rather borrow it from our children and it would be a failure of our duty of care to hand them a 51st state.
I like the "Home on Native land" touch, it's so true. We are settlers & our history here was violent. There are horror stories that some of our ancestors participated in.
My dad's family came as farmers in 1735. Of course, the whole story is lost, and only the 20th century is well known. We can only move forward with respect and care.
Wow, that's so cool that you know that!! There were French Acadians who lived peacefully in what was to become Canada amongst the First Nations for many years before the British colonized & brought war, conflict & disease to this land. Let's not be the worst version of the future... please π π¨π¦
