An anchor is plenty as we saw last autumn when Newnew Polarbear dragged her anchor 180 km and ripped up several cables and one pipe-line.

On a plane the pilot is the one flying the plane. On a ship the pilot is a local expert guiding the crew through narrow straits, shallow waters etc. On YouTube you'll find a lot of exciting videos with pilots entering ships in different ways. Amazing to watch.
