It was 2 minutes, overcast, dusk with about 30 min too full darkness. Think they would be out earlier or in better weather for that.

Hmmmm you got a point, but fx underwater photography in green water with little sight (we use to call Kattegat "the pea soup") is worse in daylight. After dark it's easier with artificial light. But that's just my speculation 🙄.

No, the Russian captain was a rumour that lame journalists ran with making it a ”truth”. But it is false and based on a misunderstanding of what a pilot is.

The pilot, in Russian origin port, was Russian. Naturally. Pilots are used cos they know their home waters. They are not captains though.

When boarding a vessel from another ship, you always go in the same direction as the ship.
Even ship is at anchor, you have to deal with the wind.

Proper entering (or attempted) maneuver on YI PENG was seen on 19.11. at 16:35 by DANPILOT CHARLIE.

I would say no. It is possible but improbable. Yi Peng is DIW. Depending on sea state, it would be more likely to tie up along side and use the pilot ladder. If rougher seas, going back to mothership (DE) is reasonable. But why would then the DE vessel sail off and leave? Usually you stay and watch
