Booker's 'Amazing' Take #3428: Most wrestlers shouldn't be trusted and are incapable of providing their own ideas and promos. WWE fosters an environment where they don't even have to think, just do.
This makes talent in WWE sound lazy as all hell tbh. If dudes need help putting things together that’s one thing. But don’t say he shouldn’t be writing his promos, building his faction, or coming up with angles. Because yes tf he should. The dudes that did became superstars in WWE.
It’s not just him. It’s as if one of the clauses in these legends deals is to be ignorant to the competition and show it in your comments no matter what.
At the very least a general ignore clause, some seem less negative. I think the paycheck inspires the real negativity - the dollar trumps many a person's objectivity.
I heard the same thing when I used to do wrestling training. I checked out soon after. If wrestlers are supposed to be themselves but turned up, then I should be able to create that part of myself to turn up. It should be up to the promotion throw ideas around that instead of just packaging shit.
He's not wrong from what he thinks a large wrestling company should be. I personally disagree with his statements, but I can see that some wrestlers would benefit from just having to work with an agent and opponent on matches and performing only.
Others benefit from having creative freedom. The guys rising to the top of AEW are there because they have stories they want to tell, and may not do so well at telling someone else's stories.
I don't disagree with the general concept you're expressing. But Booker T has a track record of making very snide and undermining comments to and about aew. I doubt any goodwilled interpretation of his comments by fans is actually a reflection of how he really feels.
I was not aware of his antipathy to AEW. That makes me a little sad. While I'm what could be described as an AEW Sicko, I do accept legitimate criticism of AEW. My issue with criticism of AEW is when it's "AEW bad because I don't like it and you're bad for liking AEW".
I can also agree with that sentiment. This Ricky Stark's scenario being a perfect example. I'm happy for Ricky Starks gettingan opportunity. A lot of these other people are happy for WWE because this appears to be a black mark on AEW. We are not the same.
The Irony being that Ricky always wanted to be in WWE but they wouldn't give him a shot. Even if you think WWE is the pinnacle it's increasingly obvious that a lot of guys benefit from having another option since WWE doesn't want to give you a shot unless you're a C tier NCAA athlete or been in AEW.
The simple fact that this man started in WWE in 2001 and went to TNA in 2007 says a lot about him.....if there is 15-18 years between that time frame, I'm turning this BA into UNC immediately!

Nothing wrong with opinions, but when you claim to be unbiased or for everyone, it’s bullshit.
I don’t always agree with Bryan Alvarez, but he isn’t a paid shill.
Booker T complaining that wrestlers have input into their own gimmick and promos is bad like an indie promotion.
He completely misses on so many things fans see that watch. But when you’re in a bubble and don’t watch, when you speak, it comes out dumb.
