For me, audiobooks help when I'm in a slump sometimes. That or jumping into kid's books! There's nothing that gets your reading like picking up Junie B. Jones 😭😂 the dopamine hits helps and is really encouraging. And there's a lot of great stuff in midgrade!
Very, very specific but I play a game that is super boring and repetitive, so much so that reading feels like a nice secondary activity to do at the same time.
someone once gave the advice of to help get out of a reading slump switch up how your reading and/or the genre
I bounce around from fantasy to fiction/romance, manga, and either reading on my e-reader or physical book!
James-Percival Everett,
literally everything by S.A. Cosby,All the Sinners Bleed is my favorite
same with Colson Whitehead, but Nickel Boys is my favorite,
Ring Shout - Clark,
Intimations- Smith,
We should all be feminists- Adichie, Between the World and Me- Coates, The Bluest Eye- Morrison
I usually switch to a short novella or something different. I hate going DNF on a book but sometimes it needs to be paused for me to continue enjoying the read 💕
I had this recently and I just bought new books I wanted to read but told myself I had to finish the other one first and that helped me get through it 😂
I foolishly have just read the first six books in a crime series and someone said it is like eating the same not that good meal for a week. Maybe we need a Masterchef books telling us how much protein and pudding we should have and how much exercise to digest it. Ultra high processed books
i’m deffff thinking that might be my problem .. i’ve been reading the same fantasy series for like the last 2 months and now i can’t finish the last book😭 i think i just need a break from fantasy
I like ditching the expectation of what I ‘should’ read and instead go with my gut on what sounds most appealing and fun. Either that or seeing if a new format (ebook, audiobook, etc.) helps the flow!
What helped me last year was reading something sweet and hopeful. So for me that was Remarkably Bright Creatures. And once I finished that I devoured 3 books. I just needed to break the seal. Maybe try a new book for a bit?
Sometimes it helps switching to something easier to read. I'm halfway through a fantasy book but it takes a lot of concentration, so I started reading a simpler story with shorter chapters to get back into the habit of reading
If you don’t feel compelled to finish the book, then you shouldn’t! Nothing wrong with that. I find rereading a book i know and love can pull me out of a slump! And maybe you’ll want to go back to the book you dnf’d later. Hope it helps 💗

I've heard others say rereading a favorite helps, but I can't speak on that since I'm not really a rereader.
