I politely disagree. We knew all that. There's still a huge difference between every administration before and this one. Trump is doing away with any checks we've had on executive power. This is far more dangerous. But yes, I agree with you that corruption is, and has been the "American Way."

The U.S. began buddying up to Nazis less than ten years after WWII ended. That aside, when people refer to Trump as a Nazi, it’s almost certainly shorthand for “minority-bashing fascist” because he ideologically doesn’t have a lot of parallels with actual traditional Nazism.

The U.S. has represented fascism and white supremacy for decades, it just used to be that it exacted its cruelty abroad or through complex legal structures targeting minorities, so white Americans could remain ignorant to the gruesome reality of U.S. hegemony. Now the iron fist has simply come home.

Mind you it took the West less than a decade after WWII to decide denazification was a less important effort than establishing a global unipolar hegemony in the Cold War, and thus prominent Nazis were effectively pardoned and reintegrated into high-ranking positions in the US war machine.
