Trump sets tariffs: “these are good, the manufacturing jobs will come back etc, we voted for this”

Trump cancels tariffs: “It was a shrewd bargaining tactic, he got what he wanted.”

Why aren’t these people mad the tariffs they wanted were a false campaign promise? What about the manufacturing?
