Same with sexual preference I don't make it my whole thing in life and that's why I Left LGBT group there full of racist and hypocrisy the same as the right wing group they just say it's not the same but it is
Oh yeah! My "block" button has been getting SOOO much amazing use. And it's not just real people either, bot creators are doing it now too. Implement the Wall of Silence on that garbage.
I don't think there's anything wrong with expressing personal opinions in this space if you choose, but that's very different from engagement bait political posts and articles trying to start arguments, which is what I have issue with.
I have a lot of strong opinions on politics, and I have strong opinions on games. It’s tough to find the right balance on posts between hobbies and news.
I'm subtly letting them know I'm about to unfollow if they don't stop spreading that nonsense when all most of us want to do here is talk about literally ANYthing else.
My twitter feed has already been overrun with politics so I'm not gonna interact with it here even if I agree with them. I'm tired of looking at politics when my existence is something other people consider political ;-;
Perhaps i'm still lucky; my feed is all about Zelda people. But then its a new problem altogether: They just blindly liked it without acknowledging the huge hypocrisy on the creators's action vs the messages in the games.
Cease and desist? shutdown of the eshops for old consoles? Not to mention it appears that the company has some connections with criminal world (not surprised if they were considering they used to make playing cards back in 1890s).
I love Zelda too but I'm aware of what they're doing.
I'm not trying to say u should quit liking LoZ - frankly I cant even stop myself...my mind is brainwashed by Oni and Wild Link - But you have to be aware that whatever they do is the opposite of what they're saying in their games. They ironically Ganon themselves.
I mean, it's nowhere NEAR as bad as Twitter. It's easier to curate it. I have followed back some accounts and then when I notice all they do is repost political stuff I usually unfollow. I've already said more than once I would do that so I warned everyone already I'm not here for it.
I already had to drop a long time buddy who couldn't leave the political bullshit on the other site. It sucks but my mental health is too important. Had to let em go.
I write here a lot of political things, but I also enjoy following and discussing on videogames a lot.
You can discover new games and new ways to enjoy the hobby here.
It's honestly pointless. Like the most pointless thing. I saw where someone commented before they blocked me when I brought this up previously like "I'm trying to make a difference, and you clearly DON'T CARE"
I'm like, dude it's social media. You're changing nothing, you're just grandstanding.
Yeah, I have both in my feed and try to post about gaming stuff or specific issues I really care about. The “zomg, this politician sucks” type stuff I save for comments on other people’s posts
Exactly this, the politically charged folks are more than welcome to do their own thing, but I'm not here for that and will unfollow when I see a bunch of it.
Yup. I'm here to spread positivity through conversations about video games and anime. Some people want different stuff, and that's fine, they can curate their own corner of the internet.
To clarify, I'm not against good faith political debate, either. Video games can be great vehicles to discuss them, but all these rage grifters want to do is scream about how minorities and feminists are the main reason we don't have more games like Stellar Blade these days.
Just to clarify, I'm not against people speaking out on political issues that effect them or they feel passionate about sharing. I don't want to see engagement/rage bait posts about politics. That's all.
I understand what you're saying. It's okay to talk about it from time to time. But not all day everyday it's way to much. They need to take breaks. It's okay for people to talk about things. But at the same time we don't want to hear it all the time.
Doesn’t really bother me unless it’s constant. As great as it would be to keep things focused on gaming 100% of the time, it’s understandably just not feasible, especially for those groups who are directly impacted by cruel policies. For some, social media is the only safe outlet they have.
I think we're on the same page. But the constant retweeting political news articles, rage bait, etc.. is where I draw the line.
Political rage-bait is much different to me than just voicing opinions like that, I've always supported those who just want to discuss what affects them from BS policies.
Politics are exhausting but as a woman in this climate, it's difficult to stay quiet but no rage baiting from me. I can't stand that. I'll say my pieces and talk about games but rage baiting, what's the point! Lol
I have opinions on tons of things, but just found expressing said opinions just isn't worth doing on this app. It's resulted in unfollows if it isn't the right or popular opinion 🤷
I agree with this completely, and I think it's the best choice for mental health to distance from politics here because it's literally being shoved down our throats everywhere else already.
I will admit that I sometimes post political stuff, but hopefully I'm balancing it out with posts about other thoughts I have, what music I'm listening to, how cute my dogs are. I know I have some work to do when it comes to saying unhelpful shit.
My friend, no worries you do whatever you like to do! I've just made it clear on here multiple times that I wanted to get away from that stuff on Twitter and I didn't want to see it personally on my feed, so I unfollow those accounts who constantly do it is all.
There's so many pages that claim to be x or y person from a or b industry but 100% of their wall is American political propaganda. I'm not even American but the bots are not picky about aim.
I have political views too. But I have decided to not make them my entire personality, nor get into pointless debates on social media. I get my news elsewhere, and I can't escape it most days when I want to.
What, you didn't base your personality on politics... Groundbreaking!!
(I wish for some people this wouldn't be news, but you can disagree politically and still have a good and friendly conversation on, I don't know, videogames)
I get political if I feel like it's worth it. But for the most part I just want to post about music, gaming and movies. I'd be even more of a nervous wreck than normal if I concentrated on politics all day.
I think it's important to have at least one space where you focus on just your hobbies or escapism. Letting politics into everything is not good for mental health at all.
Yeah, I've had to unfollow or mute a lot for political posts. I have other socials I'm on for that stuff and primarily irl vs online stuff anyway. I try to mostly keep bluesky as a break from it all because it was getting really bad for my mental health for it to be all the time everywhere.
Yes, exactly! I'm here for escapism and chats that don't involve that stuff. I get that information elsewhere and do my part where I can, when I can. But why do some feel like politics needs to be discussed at all times, everywhere? I just don't get it.
There's some people on here I like to follow but some of their posts are political and deals with crap I'd rather not deal with. I am through with that nonsense once I left Twitter and I don't want to see that junk. I agree with you on this matter.
Fair enough lol. I'll be honest I just don't see the point anymore and it takes energy I don't have. I want to be happy, not constantly in a state of fight or flight over political situations. I know my views, I vote, I live my life and put the good out there where I can. I'm here for escapism.
I feel the same about people who *constantly* repost extremely graphic pics/vids onto their feeds. Like, there's nightmarishly awful things happening in the world right now and I understand the concept of "spreading awareness", but sheesh... Fixating so much on it day in and day out isnt healthy xwx
It's why I've used the moderation functionality to screen out so many political words. I'm tired of it all, but I don't wanna miss the posts I wanna see by unfollowing or blocking. It takes a bit of up front time, but it's been worth it to prune my feed.
I'll probably go that route, but I'm also watching what people repost. If they constantly repost political stuff that's a quick unfollow from me. I just don't want it on my feed. I follow people who want to talk about games, not the BS we can't escape every day. I don't need reminders lol.
Oh yeah, if all they do is 100% a topic you're not interested in, there's no point. The mute words is more handy for people who post a variety of things. Just keep in mind you have to put in every variant. For example, muting the word "dog" will not mute "dogs" or "doggo".
Might as well yell at a wall, social media political effectiveness doesn't move the needle at all imo. Always a strange combination with a passion/hobby community 🤷♂️

I'm just so tired of politics I'm sorry 😭
So this never even crossed my mind before.
I love Zelda too but I'm aware of what they're doing.
I get my news from a trusted podcast, if they’re not covering it, prob not my concern.
You can discover new games and new ways to enjoy the hobby here.
I'm like, dude it's social media. You're changing nothing, you're just grandstanding.
You control your feed, if you want to make a change talk to political part of this site.
Oke to have and great to enjoy but you don't take it out in public willy-nilly to slap people in the face with it.
😀
"Are you a gamer?"
"No. I actually like video games."
The same gamers who complain the loudest about modern games being too political have ironically politicized the medium way more than anyone else.
Also, their favorite apolitical game is Metal Gear Solid.
It's tiring.
Political posts automatically get blocked
Left that crap behind...
Political rage-bait is much different to me than just voicing opinions like that, I've always supported those who just want to discuss what affects them from BS policies.
I'm not here for US politics or ANY politics.
Leave that shit at the door when you come in people.
👌
I keep being followed by so many political handles and that’s the biggest reason I left the other place.
I’m tired of it and “fighting the good fight” for no reason whatsoever, bc everything keeps changing for the worse.
I have political views too. But I have decided to not make them my entire personality, nor get into pointless debates on social media. I get my news elsewhere, and I can't escape it most days when I want to.
I'm here for gaming and my podcast. That's it.
