Some of y'all don't know how big of a deal violence in video games was in the 90s and early 00s.
Your friend could say something like "You can rip a guy's head off in this game!" and you instantly wanted to play it.
The "M" rating on a box literally sold games back then and we couldn't get enough!

To date, I have not shot any clock towers.
The government hated it
Parents thought it was a bad influence
By today's standards...
Those games are tame as hell lol
But hell yeah! You saw a M game in the 90s your brain was on fire wondering what they were cooking lol. Conker was wild for what it did back then
Shooting and killing aliens, and their Valois being a bit splattered sounded so fun/funny to me
My mom banned it from the house tho :/
Idek wtf “Valois” is
I hate my autocorrect
Years later it's fine for fifa to promote gambling to children over the age of three though, surprise mechanics go figure
I grew up with Super Street Fighter 2 on an arcade machine anyway, so I was always an SF guy.
Ill be cool to adding more modalities not only the classic vs and the storyline.
Combat Games in general haven't grow more.
Like, I had to not only put a "blood code" in, but also I got in trouble and lost a childhood friend 'cause of it. 🥹
I also remember a friend trying to tell me about sub zero's fatality, and I 100% did not believe him until I saw it myself. Ah, good times.
Also, Wu-Tang: Taste the Pain, which made me popular in high school as no one else had a copy of it 🤣
Pretty tame compared to stuff these days.
Same with gore, the last time it really hit was in 2019 with that guy’s jaw in RE2make (and maybe the guy who lost his lower half)
*checks notes*
A poker rogue-like
We felt like we were doing something we shouldn't, and it was fun!
You just had to be there.
When I got control over my own PSN account and started buying a few M rated PS1 games in secret, it felt special...
Then I later got stuff like Devil May Cry and Max Payne when dad started to allow a limited number of M rated games.
Now it's not special anymore because practically everything is rated M nowadays...
Evidently it had the exact opposite effect of what they intended 😂
All of us in that 3rd grade class wanted it immediately.
Like for C&C. 😸
I'm clearly old enough to play this 😏
