If the chapters were a little shorter, it would make great bedtime story reading!

Wu Cheng’en does the same thing in Journey to the West. I love both of these works. Have you read A Dream of Red Mansions?

Huh. Looks like it's not that different from how Journey to the West and Water Margin end theirs.

That is his hook at the end of each chapter.

He is also the only classic writer to use the word ‘fuck’ at least in the translation I read.

this article goes over the differences pretty well. I think each of the three most modern translations have things I like about them but Im torn between the Moss Roberts and the Yu Sumei translations.
