1) Parental factors (i.e., math beliefs and math anxiety) are related to preschool-aged children’s math skills.
2) Child-related factors (i.e., spontaneous gestures) were also differentially related to math performance in some math tasks.
Our results highlight how both parental and child-related factors in early years can be both uniquely and interactively crucial in the formation of math skills.
