Chronic illness involves a lot more trying to predict the future than I would have expected. I’m getting close to red-string conspiracy boards trying to figure out when my next good day is.
We all need a personal assistant...
Just managing the appointments, meds, etc - calling 748 times just to get through, finally, to the consultant's secretary's voicemail to ask them to reschedule as you can't have an arthritis appointment during your colonoscopy... 🤷🤦🙄😵💫
'We don't have many slots left, is there no way you can attend?'
'He can come to me, if you like. I'll be down the hall in endo. I'll be the one with the tube in my arse. But sure, he can come in and test my finger and toe joints if he likes..!' 🙄😂
last year, my husband went to the VA for a colonoscopy; before checking in, he had spoken to another dept about an upcoming appt. While on gurny waiting to go to procedure, they rolled him down the hall to talk to that other doc, who decided she wanted to to see him that day too.
OMGosh. Yes. I go through this whenever something is proposed or inserted into my carefully curated routine. Dinner party? Nap first. Child minding? Only the basics for days before and after. Skills training? Off days only, not through overtime. Weekend guests? Crash inevitable.
