DR: I know you're in pain but we won't give you what you need, use OTC motrin/aleve/tylenol. You can have them mailed to your home by insurance. I put a script in the system.
Insurance: We don't approve OTC meds. Get in a wheelchair, pay transport co to take you to a CVS just to buy them yourself.
Let's be honest..Can I use instacart, Ubereats, Doordash, Grubhub to have them delivered? Yes. But I'm still paying for them myself at jacked up prices (with delivery fees and tips) when insurance SHOULD pay for it.
I'll approach this from an even worse, different angle.
Everyone who "fakes it for drugs" at one point wasn't though. A simple car crash and a 30 day dose that Pfizer deemed "safe and non habit forming" can ruin someone's life forever and the company barely pays a tiny fraction of profits in fines.
I had an appt to talk about taking me off my nerve pain med. To my face the dr was nice. The notes?! She had written I was LETHARGIC lol, slurring my words and exhausted. Dude my pulse was also 108 that day, I hadn't even taken the med she accused me of being on. So gross
I have only seen 2 parole officers (pain management "specialists") in 2018 & now have standing instructions to my cardboard cut out primary that I never see a "specialist" again.
He's also instructed never to address my arthritis. I have meds coming today & it's none of his business.
Why? Why would we do this and I refuse narcotics all the time, because I know we develop resistance to pain meds. I will do everything in my power to avoid narcotics until I have absolutely no choice left.
You're right, I am faking it. Because it's so much fun to pretend to be in constant agony, not go anywhere and have people treat me like shit for being in public, just for a handful of drugs I don't really want a dependance on, but it's that or suffer while everyone doubts me.
For the record, after damned near half a century of either being called a junkie or having everything blamed on my uterus, I have chosen the path of suffer while everyone doubts me. It's less stressful than begging for help.
Yet they have nothing else to offer, which leaves people vulnerable and subject to charlatans who will exploit people in pain. Chronic pain is more common than most of the other chronic conditions yet there is no help out there. https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/16/health/chronic-pain-study/index.html

Take this. Oh, and then take this because of the side effects of the other.
You take it.
Sick sadistic fucks.

Id love to see these highly opinionated people try living our daily pain and symptoms
That's why there has been no organized push back on patient behalf by doctors.
Quacky "I'll refer you to physio. Which you have to chase up yourself... faking it..."
