I was born in a refugee camp. People in refugee camps are not there by choice, they are in desperate circumstances, many of them are children, and they are defenseless and vulnerable. Refugee camps should never be a target under any circumstances.

While I agree with this it doesnβt exonerate Israel.
Cutting off food / water to non combatants is a war crime.
One could argue that the degree of civilian death to target one Hamas leader is disproportionate even if it does tell Hamas civilian shields no longer work
"We have indications they are trying" says the State Department spokesman, when asked what Israel is doing to avoid civilian casualties.
So, Israel gets a gold star for trying? That is disgusting.
Itβs been so heartening to see my older Vietnamese relatives (many of whom also grew up in refugee camps) condemn Israel so immediately. Itβs the default. Meanwhile, my white boomer relatives tend towards Zionism.
Jabalia is not a refugee camp. Itβs also located in the north, residents had plenty of time to move. And maybe Hamas shouldnβt have built tunnels underneath.
