COVID, flu, measles, and all airborne viruses can seriously harm anyone, not just people who are immunocompromised. EVERYONE has a medical reason to wear a mask at any time and in any place.

Except at Columbia University where they just caved to Trumps felonious demands to totally ban masks! That’s right Columbia puts your children’s well being at the very bottom of importance (all for $400 million Trump dollars)…lives have zero value, your loss will be collateral damage…
The last two big events my husband and I went to we both wore masks after my husband got the flu after attending event at the Whitney Museum. Yes we did have our flu shot and the last Covid shot. It’s time to mask up again I’m afraid. FYI, both of us have never got Covid.
oh gawd...i grew up in manhattan and we went to whitney all the time...along w all the other museums...but we never masked back then, never got sick...no need for masks back in 60s...covid created a totally different world for us.
i love the Frick...we lived very near there too...in Murray Hill on 38th and 2nd. I remember walking over to the Frick with my Mom all the time to go see the exhibits...i think in 60s the museums were all free too, even for the adults...looks like there are newly renovated Fricks uptown now
I’m in California at at 81, I have not stopped wearing a mask every time I go out or have anyone in the house. I have health issues and want to avoid all of those viruses that keep many people very sick. Do you know anyone with Influenza-A now? That almost killed my daughter-in-law‘s mother.
In other words, when a mask ban lists a “health exception” in practice that health exception should apply to anyone wearing a mask at any time because airborne viruses pose a health threat to everyone, no matter your age or health status.
I have been creeped out for years being on airplanes for extended periods of time--"recirculated" air and people just way too close together for comfort.
Wearing masks on airplanes was like a personal security blanket.
Get the right kind of mask, one that seals around your face with a valve to let air out. The other masks are to protect people from you, not to protect you from people.
Recommendations? I wear FFP3, but I am considering switching to something more comfortabel as I am in lockdown most of the time anyway and hence am only very scarcely a source of infection.
Our family uses the GATA masks with the paper filters and we're still (thankfully) a zero Covid household. They fit is very comfy for long periods of wear as well with the added option of the ear strap accessory. www. Gatapack dot com
These are good masks, not very expensive and should be easy to source.
Also they fit *almost* everyone, and are pretty comfortable. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b00037866/
i wear a 4 fold medical cranberry mask and have never gotten covid, the flu, a cold...not anything...that mask offers excellent coverage, unlike the 3 fold masks...
That is not correct.
Masks also protect you from other people.
As an ICU RN I wore a N95 mask many many times caring for pts with active TB.
15 years later, I am still negative when tested.
Masks protect everyone.
yah...in Japan they wear them all the time in Tokyo cuz the air is so polluted and to protect from viruses which hang on in polluted air cuz of particulates... masks work...and they are just wearing the 3 fold masks for most part...
And in a country that doesn’t cover healthcare or sick leave, even a slight illness can be catastrophic for far too many people. By the time it spreads throughout a family it can lead to days or even weeks of lost wages.
As a child my oldest sibling contracted measles, shortly after her recovery she was exposed to TB and was then sent to a live-in facility for an entire year for treatment. Her health never recovered, and neither did my mother. The anti-vaccination crowd are in the grips of a cult.
Living in Japan, we dropped all mask mandates and went back to standard masking when you’re sick. I’ve been pretty healthy with the exception of hay fever, only getting a bad virus once since having Covid, and only getting both because I spent the last three years working around kids all day. 😓
I also got all of my standard vaccines here in a very efficient and safe way, all done through the government in large vaccine drives. When I got Covid, the government provided me food to stay in quarantine for the 10 days required. Pretty awesome actually, save for having Covid (which sucks…)
And yes, to everyone who says “see, you got Covid even having three shots.” Yeah, but it was like a bad flu, not deadly, and I got the preventative shots for the first virus, not the strain I eventually contracted. But they helped.
In Germany, people are sick every two weeks now, it is so ridiculously stupid. They all want to become disabled, it seems. But before that, they will rise facism, because all the sick people are to be blamed, right?
Sometimes, Japan’s almost herd-like mentality is good, especially in cases of social welfare. There are a lot of problems from it as well, mainly slow political change from everyone here being more politically apathetic.

Which means pretty much everyone on Earth is immunocompromised.
Even if not wearing a mask wasn't detrimental to my health, it's still my choice what I choose to wear and when.
If MAGA can wear those obnoxious red hats everyewhere, I can wear my mask.
Always mask. Everywhere. Because pandemics are now, and our future.
Some viruses, like Covid, like measles, in kids, do *not* quit us, after symptoms abate.
My freedumb remains unaffected, by my choice to protect & preserve my health.
Wearing masks on airplanes was like a personal security blanket.
I can't find the kind I used to buy, so I am hunting also.
Also they fit *almost* everyone, and are pretty comfortable.
