So sorry, this is a raw one for me, lost my Oswald 2wks ago today. He was almost 12 which is a long life for a big dog, I'm grateful but miss him so much as does Bernard our other pup. It's a unique pain in life, wish you peace and may India's memory be a blessing, Laura.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard. They show up in ways we sometimes don't even realize, and then we miss them in unexpected ways when they leave us. I lost my best buddy Snickers in July, and I think of him every day.

As a therapist, I’ve had many patients apologize for their overwhelming grief over the death of a pet, undoubtedly bc someone sometime minimized their depth of sadness w/ “they’re only animals”. I’ve never understood such an absurd lack of empathy. Farewell, India & Parker, forever dearly loved.

I have shed more tears in my life over animals than people, and always wondered why. I have come to think that it is because while I care so deeply about them, I feel acutely the inability to express that in a way I know they understand. May your animals' memory be a blessing to your whole family.

Laura, I'm so sorry for all of your losses. I used to have a sanctuary for senior and special needs animals, and the circle of life made for a lot of loss and grieving, but also hope and renewal and the knowledge that these thrown away animals enjoyed their days in comfort and in caring arms.
