It's how I listen to most of my music! I buy it off of Bandcamp if I hear something I really like. Usually it comes from listening on YouTube or a video game, and I just bought a few songs I heard while playing Pacific Drive.

Thank you for sharing. Shifting from artists making $ on radio plays & record sales to streaming services has created an industry where the creators of art make no $ and owners of companies parasite off the creativity & hoard the wealth. Very challenging to get diversity in music & make a living.

Yeah. It kinda bugs me that services like Spotify get to build their business and profit off so many artists, while people whose work they've built upon are getting peanuts :/

Way not a fan of spotify but do use it to quickly sample a pool of tracks before going elsewhere to purchase. I like bandcamp but oh boy is their search and site navigation UX tits useless.

This is a big regret among serveral I have for relying on streaming music services for so long -- pre-Spotify and all.

What would my music collection look like now if I'd directed all that cash into albums instead? How much more would I have contributed to cool artists?

Personally I see Bandcamp as a very good way to Tip an artists.
Bandcamp purchases is also often not via label company but posted by the artist themselfs.

While It would be neat if Spotify would have a tipping system, I'd also not trust them with it and I'd still use Bandcamp.

For me it's also a bit easier, because it doesn't happen too often that I find new music I really like to listen to regularly, so I don't buy new albums that often.

But when I do, I want to support the artist. Sometimes I throw a bit extra too on Bandcamp.

I side-eye how often I just end up listening to the same core tracks, albums, and artists on streaming services.

Not that I haven't done a lot of genre sampling and stuff, and I do have periods where I try to change things up a lot. But it's not like I'm doing that all the time.
