Kings was the name of Kansas City’s old NBA team (1972-85 now Sacramento). All the KC teams from back in the day were named after Royalty (Royals, Monarchs, Kings, Chiefs). Originally named the Cincinnati Royals, the Kings had to change their name when moving to KC because of the baseball team.
