You are right, of course. But there is a lot of harm they can do without Congressional approval. Impoundment is probably top threat. Hiring freezes (unable to replace retirees or staff fleeing dysfunction). Appointees who refuse to make decisions (or make harmful ones).

Definitely a concern, no doubt. Though even that is probably going to be a lot harder in reality given the way that federal agencies impact real people in real districts who have real votes for representatives every two years.

Regardless, it's still not as simple as "eliminate agency X."

Trump had majorities in the House and Senate for two years of his first presidency, and it didn't happen then. In fact Congress didn't even support any of his proposed big cuts. He can do a lot, and maybe more than the last time around, but an agency being shuttered is still a very long shot.

hope you’re right - but remember this summer’s insidious infamous Roger Taney inspired John Roberts decision - Trump has complete immunity for all official acts - let’s see how he uses it - getting rid of agencies outside Constitutional norms may fit right in to “official acts.”
