TBH the only info I can give is it happened when they reached zero health. Otherwise I have no idea what might cause it, it happened only with them - and not the smaller ones - on three different characters with three different loadouts... .
(side note: their animation is great)

The last 2 images made me notice something.. The xB outfit shown there has unique footwear, but these are NOT part of the xB Outfit unlocked by completing the new mission (at least not on my character that completed it). Is this intentional?
