You can absolutely get very dramatic microbursts in the monsoon season (observe an accumulation of such references, pics from Google). Mine is smaller in scale and has a very neatly defined structure, see for example the small gust front ahead of the rain.

A lot of the monsoon season storms are far less dramatic or localized in structure. I wanted to incorporate some recognizable traits of a convective thunderstorm and elected to paint less cloud cover so I can show the anvil structure above the storm base. 3/??

Convection and low hanging scud clouds often happen over a mountain range (from elevation forcing air up and sunlight heating mountainsides), and I really wanted to include that in my piece. To do that, I planned the cloud cover so it would show that off.

Large rotating updrafts that cause powerful tornadoes aren't really characteristic of the monsoon season. Appropriate wind conditions can still cause weaker tornadoes/landspouts to form. As a treat I included one!
