Appeasement is the policy of acceding to the demands of a potentially hostile nation in the hope of maintaining peace. Best known example is Chamberlain on his return from Munich in 1938 where he had given Hitler large parts of Czechoslovakia. One year later WW2 broke out.
Smells like Putin playing some reflexive control. He seems to have all the leverage on the battlefield and has much more on the line in the conflict—it just means more to Moscow. Trump must be patient and deliberate.
Trump offered to meet all of Putin's demands - Russia gets the territory, Ukraine is blocked from NATO... Why wouldn't Putin continue. At this rate, Trump will probably invest a few billion into Gazprom
Soon US forces based in Germany will occupy Berlin, arrest the government and organize the greatest event since JFK's famous "Ich bin ein Berliner" when Trump hands over Germany to his close associate Putin.
