If someone read this masterly repudiation of Mosely & the Fascism he represented, to Trump he wouldn’t be able to understand more than a few words. Trump is a barbarian, Mosely was educated & of decent background but bigoted & fascinated by Hitler’s power & agenda.
i completely subscribe to those feelings.
and i would like the letter to be published in german every hour if every day until the last of those voters understand that nothing good for the general humankind can come of fascist thinking, no matter what is being promised.
Thank you for your letter and for your enclosures. I have given some thought to our recent correspondence. It is always difficult to decide on how to respond to people whose ethos is so alien and, in fact, repellent to one's own.
It is not that I take exception to the general points made by you but that every ounce of my energy has been devoted to an active opposition to cruel bigotry, compulsive violence, and the sadistic persecution which has characterized the philosophy and practice of fascism.
I feel obliged to say that the emotional universes we inhabit are so distinct, and in deepest ways opposed, that nothing fruitful or sincere could ever emerge from association between us.
I should like you to understand the intensity of this conviction on my part. It is not out of any attempt to be rude that I say this but because of all that I value in human experience and human achievement.
Absolutely! Carefully thought out, deeply felt, & expressed with crystal clarity & such simplicity the reader needs no previous knowledge of the subject to understand exactly what he’s saying.
What a true way of describing our era. When honour & truth, integrity & decency were aspired to, not derided. When reality was easy to differentiate from fake. Now nobody trust’s anything to be real. Victims of scams, news manipulation, AI & CGI can make anything seem to be real.

Dear Sir Oswald,

What was Russell doing in Penrhyndeudraeth?
He did, however, make an exception to his pacifism for fighting against fascism.
