Your case opens on the left because it stays on your right, and it stays on your right because most people are right-handed, and since the mouse predates the vertical case trend, most people would have their mouse on the right too.

The mouse cable moves a lot, so you want it closer to the case.

Speakers are still right-wired, and so are wired keyboards. The fact that you don't even think about it enough to figure a reason is because it was the only natural way to use a computer when everything was wired and still have access to the case's insides.

It “feels” wrong in every way. The leds and the glass are facing the wall and cables make a weird turn. But it’s the only way I will be able to fit it in my table 😑

This made me realize I somehow haven't had a keyboard with a right-aligned cable since the 90s. Every wired one I've had has been center-aligned, except my current one, which is left-aligned for some unknown reason.
