What he needs to be doing is addressing the false narrative about immigration. Small boats are a tiny fraction of immigrants. The large majority are working and paying taxes and keeping this bin fire afloat. The xenophobia exists in both parties, that is what Farage banks on.

I genuinely don't understand it because it's very clearly a political choice and not something that he believes. I get there's a lot of gammony older Labour voters but they will support the party if there's actual result to show in society in a few years regardless of perceived immigration issues.

Starmer will not win them back- he’s tacitly saying farage was right, and that doesn’t make Starmer look strong for changing positions, it makes him look weak for giving in and makes them say “Farage was right? Better go join him then”.

So many people disagree with the rhetoric on minoritised people, immigration and more that Starmer’s come out with. But they say it’s “too soon to judge Labour”. It isn’t. You can’t judge them for the mess the Tories left- but you can judge them on what they’re saying and doing. Start doing it.
