One thing I'll say is McDaniel isn't hiding his frustrations this year, at least not as much as before. In the Jets game, I saw him throw his headset on the ground. I forgot what happened and didn't have time to record it but he was livid.
So what do you think, Houtz? Do you think McDaniel needs to go and the Dolphins should start over or do you give him a pass because of the mounting injuries to key players? Do you move on from Grier?
I wanted to move on from Grier a few years ago, so I’m ignorantly stuck in my ways on that one. the issue i have is if you ax Grier, you have to let the next GM pick his HC & I just know, McDaniel flourishes elsewhere… idk if I know what I want or what’s best, but I do think Ross runs it back, FWIW
I think the biggest problem we have is that glaring stat against playoff teams. They pushed the chips in and they are still consistently getting slapped around. No idea whose fault it is but hte results aren't great. It does feel like Mcdaniel gets outcoached in the big games
I do think a big part of them not competing with the big dogs is on Tua. He is fantastic within the system, but struggles when that system breaks down. The best teams have QBs that can improvise, that is not Tua's strength. Houston shut the system down, and Miami had no answers.
I don't think it falls on Tua. The team is not constructed to win in the cold weather. When your biggest rival plays in Buffalo you need to built to beat that team. This team sadly just isn't. They can beat the other 2 cold weather teams though but they aren't good.
I don't completely agree here. The team has played really well these least few games in Buffalo including the Skylar led playoff game. They are just not constructed to beat Josh Allen😭
I don't think it all falls on him, but he has limitations and when the defense has zero threat of QB taking off for a run or making an off script play, it allows them to game plan better. Tua does a lot of things better than most QBs, but as long as they are within the system.
I don't think you move on from HC.Though Grier should have his feet to the fire. It's not Grier's fault players get injured and he has made some really good moves, but the yearly glaring need at both guard spots and backup QB is hard to ignore. They could bring in a new GM who would work with HC and QB
U are right he can't be blamed for injures. In the same token u get what you pay for. U depend on injury prone players that you get on discount, u shouldn't be surprised when that player gets hurt. The allocation of resources was not handled right and I think that falls on Grier.
I think you both make great points and I really don’t know the ‘right’ answer.
One thing I overlooked was mcDaniel’s extension literally a few months ago… I think Ross is content letting Grier, McDaniel & Tua play out the next few years & honestly, after what he witnessed prior, why shouldn’t he?
I would rather continue the continuity on the football side....Tellthe new GM to give McDaniels a company 1yr and mandate certain changes he must make. If he refused then you are free to cut ties immediately!!!
You don't move on from a HC who has been top 12 in wins since he arrived and had his team in the playoffs two years in a row for the first time in decades. That's the problem with this franchise, they just keep hitting reset over and over. No continuity.

Hint - the closest were both interims.
We're not good at picking coaches.
