From all the Cora/Kennedy stuff this morning, the most notable bit was Kennedy admitting that not getting early extensions done with Betts and Bogaerts basically led to the rut, and the internal plan is to get deals done with Crochet and their other young players. I must have missed the rule that they weren’t allowed to spend the money on Mookie and Xander even in free agency. They just chose not to. Mookie never reached free agency, but it’s a whole lot easier to extend a player when they are still on your roster. Classic case of things can change quickly!

Mookie never went to FA because of the outlook due to Covid. He ended up signing with the Dodgers for less than what Boston offered. If anything Mookie should be frustrated his agent didn't put any opt outs in that deal because I have to believe he'd have gotten another $350mill in 23

I'll never be over Mookie. I was I over Xander before he was even gone. Not bagging on him at all but just never thought of him as a superstar or mega contract guy. Easy to say now though.

The problem, as we all know, is we can’t believe anything Kennedy says. He’s continuously told us what we want to hear but then lets us down year after year. I have no faith in them signing any of their young core to extensions anytime soon. Hope I’m wrong🙏
