Aren't these the same people who are all crazy about 2 genders? Then why would they call airwomen "men"? Do we have to start calling all women "men"? Make it make sense.
Traditionally I think the vibe was 'it's an honor that we think of you as being as good as a man' in a world where the female versions of nouns (mistress vs master, governess vs governor) were automatically lower status. (1/2)
Sure, I believe that. I was thinking of what's sometimes called 'benevolent sexism' where folks think that the male version is the good version and women should feel honored by inclusion in it when really it's only a relic of nobody ever having imagined a woman in that particular role
But I think these days (since Nov 24) Hegseth's goal is an Air Force that has no women in it and calling them 'airmen' is to demean/pretend they're not there already. The MAGA goal is no women or minorities in any position in society that white guys would prefer to keep for themselves.
*stares in military*… but seriously… first trans folk then profiles over 12 months (preg folk ALWAYS 12 month)… then women in combat roles, overseas assignments… oops, non-deployable means useless therefore gone.
“Any real woman wouldn’t be in the Air Force; she’d be at home, making babies. Thus, any ‘woman’ in the Air Force is a [trans person] and must be removed.”
listen there’s like one flight traffic controller per 5 towers, what, you want them to recruit and hire qualified people? what if they’re the wrong color?!
