You weren’t “high-functioning.”
You were masking.
You weren’t “coping.”
You were dissociating.
You weren’t “fine.”
You were in burnout.
They praised your performance.
But never saw the cost.
You deserved care.
Not applause.

Thank you
Perfect conclusion.
Ten point OH!
Survival technique/almost art-form...if managed intentionally. Rather than inadvertant falling-into-shock.
They were weeks behind when I started, within a few weeks, that included several days off, they couldn’t keep up with me…
I've been trying to cope with life in general and I feel it punches me in the guts.
I have adhd and autism
with also dealing with episodes of depression irs been a ride.

In my defense, sometimes I was assimilating and compensating. 🙃
All I can do, is be more and more aware so I can help my children not hit the same walls.
Who gave you permission to hit those today?
Or that they aren't hurting also.
Or that they deserve anger over not perceiving the need for care or how to supply that.
& IMO--while burnout sucks, applause is some compensation. :-)
