I think a lot of people who write fiction with trans characters have echoed this statement, and we’re slowly building new language, but there’s nothing quite succinct. It’s still a bit meandering. Maybe it will always be.

seconded... I don't like having strict definitions of my characters' gender/sexuality because I don't have strict definitions of my own. It feels limiting, especially when they exist in settings at all different from ours. I like the realism of things being Complicated.
I do too!!! I know in my heart the experiences that have flavored my characters experiences with gender/sexuality and how that intersects with the way they view their relationship with the world they inhabit/others. I love how that leaves their experiences fluid and lets ppl experience them together
