Been grabbing these UK press collections whenever I see them. All killers. My hot take is that SF works best in short story form. (It’s why “The Twilight Zone” and monster-of-the-week “Star Trek” are unbeatable.)

I would, but I have been just scouring book stores when I travel. The Strand in NYC usually has some, I got most when I was at Forbidden Planet in London.
Science fiction is all about exploring interesting ideas, not so much character development or action. You often don’t need a full novel to do that and in fact it can obscure the point if you make it too big. Not that there haven’t been a million SF novels I loved.
I need to pick up "The Weird," the collection compiled by @annvandermeer.bsky.social and @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social - I have some of the stories in there now and they're all winners.
It's such an excellently curated collection with the absolute WORST cover designs. Sci fi books should be required by law to have rad covers (see Penguin UK's latest series).
I'm reading the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy and couldn't agree more. This series gets a lot of shit for having light, one dimensional characters, but anything more would get in the way of the high concept the author is trying to sell. Sometimes in sci-fi it's just the idea thats interesting
Yes! I love the Masterworks collection. They have a less popular and harder to find fantasy masterworks collection too, though I’ve not picked much of those up.
In general, I think that hand curation is more important than ever (see also: Criterion)
