In addition to writing annoying tweets, I sometimes ask questions of politicians.
One of my Qs for Ds today has been: “in his first 100 days, has the President committed any impeachable offenses?” Answer I’m getting is, yes, but Rs won’t fulfill their responsibility, so other tools are better.

I annoyed a bunch of people with my "impeachment doesn't really do anything" take, but the other part of the take was that Dems should focus on Oversight instead.
They are definitely not acting like a strong Oversight committee/strategy is coming if they win the House.

Having each impeachable offense written down, formally, in clear language to allow every Republican to say “that’s not a crime or a bad thing” gives a tool for every ‘26 election
It’s today’s version of Hugh Scott telling Nixon to leave. I liked that one better.
Trump came for the Christians first. It’s been their fealty to him that has allowed what is happening to occur.
However, I do try to be mindful of what shapes the way people vote.

Trump should be impeached for memecoin and other “pay to play” schemes and probably ignoring SCOTUS. Because laws and democracy. Simple.
Impeachment has never successfully removed a President in all of U.S. History.
I'm old enough to remember when the 1st Trump Impeachment handed Trump a giant PR victory and (correctly) indicated he would not be facing any consequences whatsoever.
Are we really doing this again?

Fact is, dems can, and should, do both simultaneously. Draft the articles, and update them as needed. But other levers are important too.

Just the word is a trigger for both sides.
Why dems think they’d actually get repubs to convict this time is laughable
Saying impeachment doesn't work based on recent examples is like saying a car is a lemon because someone flattened 3 tires and hid the keys.
Could it cause fatigue? Maybe. Could it piss Trump off and make him more unhinged and unappealing to people? Also maybe.
