Having time to step back, I'm actually surprised we all accepted this. I feel like it happened over a period of time because in 2015-2019 I didn't have this issue. I made so much creative work and got so much more done. Something broke and I think we're all grappling with it still. - ThreadSky

You are probably right, I feel like I’m working more than I ever have, even in the pandemic and even when I think I’ve said no to a lot of things, I still have a lot on my plate.

Also, just reading how I was writing since 2030 hurts my heart. I love to write and I read like a garbled mumbling person with a mouth full of marbles. Nothing makes sense. I couldn’t even see it, I was so tired. I see it now after a few months of sabbatical and changes are being made.

I’m finding it harder to write meaningfully as well, but I thought it was because I’m doing more grant writing and practice, but I have huge amount of admin, sometimes it’s chosen like, but there is so much admin, as you say. The practice/research/ teaching /admin ratio for me is now 10/10/ 80

It hurts our brains. We didn’t get into academia because we liked filling out forms and we are actually really ill-suited for it (not to mentioned over educated and paid). Feeling my head now has changed me in ground shift kind of way.

I distinctly noticed a shift. The end result is I have way less time for students and research and there is more admin. I’ve not made a new piece of creative work since 2019 but I’ve had a few inspired ideas that I normally would have executed.
