I noticed a lot of Canadians saying the plane crash yesterday was not the FAA's fault because it happened in Canada. I understand not wanting to be tied to the US fuckery. But also, remember that we are a global community and nothing happens in a vacuum. When one is weak, we all are weaker.

It was not a controller issue. It will turn out to be ice, snow, high winds.
The other 5% is the weather's fault.

Flight originated in US.
Maybe the nav systems got fucked up figuring out when maps have to switch from
Gulf of America
Back to
Gulf of Mexico
Unintended circumstances
Once the plane crosses into Canadian airspace, there is an air traffic controller handoff.
So no FAA direct involvement in that leg of the flight.
Of course, it’s possible there was more at play there. But it’s a plausible and simpler explanation to just chalk it up to bad weather forcing pilot error.
