Everything in our culture screams at us that we need more to be happy, things that 90% of the population will never be able to afford. So the alternative is for them to be always angry and want others to be punished for their unhappiness.

You’re missing my point. BUY NOTHING. Not just Trump supporting business. Wreck the economy. Reject consumerism. Spend only what you must (and I say this as an Amazon retailer so it’s really f’ing ironic but honestly, I don’t care about $, I want my county more)
I'm not disagreeing, but when you need to buy something don't buy it from a trump supporter. I'm confident that trump by himself will tank the economy. Maybe we can help it along following your advice.
No worries. If Trump actually does what he promised--and it looks like he will--then there will be a massive amount of financial ruin that will likely satisfy your request. Rich folks still won't pay any attention to you though.
I suspect that most billionaires wouldn't be hurt by a boycott, but publicly traded companies can be. Some billionaires could be hurt by cutting off lucrative govt contracts (spacex)
Gonna point out here that the population can, in fact, afford a slew of luxuries that were out of reach even 40 years ago. Multiple big-screen TVs? Cheap! (Built in China, but hey.) The problem isn't unsatisfied wants, it's decadence: People have what they want and they're still not happy.
Some, 37.9 million in America live in poverty. Many that aren't counted in that statistic live paycheck to paycheck. I very much doubt that they are all out buying big screen tv's.
Regardless, we/they aren't voting rationally. Right wing media feeds us a steady diet of who to hate & who to blame.
Strong agree! All my students who screamed poverty had high end laptops and streaming services. When I was in college and grad school I could barely afford my landline and I used typewriters and then a computer to type my papers where I worked. No cable either!
They have what they THINK they want. They don’t have a sense of community and belonging, they don’t have consistent health care coverage, and they don’t have long or medium term job security.

Stop spending
You really want to be rid of the man? THAT would ruin him and the GOP.
I’ll be entering maximum save mode 1/21/25
First, people will tell you that it doesn't make a difference.
Then, people will attack you for trying to take away something they like. They'll say you're trying to hurt their livelihood.
That happened to me.
