It's not a *surprise* to anarchists that the state is propped up in large part because most people don't want to invest attention or consideration in anything. Taking agency in our lives is hugely costly, freedom is painful. This is well known and visible in every single aspect of modern politics.

It's not like the appeal of fascism is some kind of mystical cypher! It takes energy to think things through diligently. Informed agency is hard. And in a thousand ways it is reinforced in most people from birth that being a carelord or a nerd is a losing strategy in life.

Just take this into consideration; the average adult American reads at the 7th to 8th grade level. Yet Trump and the rest of the fascist are trying to destroy the department of Education. I was tested and proven to read at a graduate school level in the 5th grade.

The liberal sees this inability for anarchism to immediately vanquish fascism forever as proof that a compromise must be struck. That we should stop pressing people to expand their moral responsibilities and intellectual considerations. Settle for something stupid and simple: eg the liberal state.

And like, they're not entirely wrong about the present lay of the land, but compromise doesn't make things better. Yeah, people get snippy about pressures to think more and care more. But without such pressures they'll not only never advance, they'll cultivate even more abandonment of responsibility
