if you are an indie studio and you want to completely buyout a composer and offer shared percentages on soundtracks, then I'm expecting you to also be acting like a music publisher. Do you have a music division? Are you going to give me cue sheets? Are you going to mix and master the soundtrack?
Are you going to sign up for a distributor? Organize the release and upload all the information? Handle all the artwork/metadata? Are you going to promote the soundtrack?
Are you going to actually do work to make me money for my music? Be in charge of tracking my royalties? Because if you're not, I don't really see why you should get any backend percentage of soundtrack sales.
Also, I want composers to be pushing back against these defaults. It really doesn't need to be standard. If are are not complacent in our own exploitation then we can make some real progress
