I could be wrong, but I have worked on a bunch of tv shows, and generally speaking, if they don’t have to shoot at the real location, it’s better for everyone to construct and shoot sets on a sound stage.
I’ve been catching up on season 1 and uh, this moves, to put it kindly, at a glacial pace. Didn’t make it through season 1 the first time, not sure I will make it to 2 this go round. Nice endless white hallways though.
I'm curious about this! Severance is my favorite show, I've watched it 4 times and personally didn't find it slow even the first time. What aspect of it do you find particularly sluggish?
The pace of the narrative is just very slow. I realize these are sort of zombie characters, which contributes to the pacing. I just find it to be a slow roll.
Interesting! I had so many questions from the first episode that I couldn't stop watching, it probably took me 4 episodes to fully grasp how the severance mechanism worked and what was going on with the "integration" aspect. The last episode is fantastic, but the show is definitely not for everyone
I’m into fifth episode and I know that Mark is a conflicted robot like person, one member will do anything to get out of there with including suicide, one is gay, Lumon is bad and severance is probably not morally or ethically ok. A long way to get there.
I guess I see the characters differently/am fascinated by the premise. Mark's wife died so he chose severance to cope; severed employees are 2 consciousnesses in one body that have totally separate lives so Helly is essentially being tortured by her outer self. It may not be your cup of tea!
Everything about this show is so well done but I keep getting blown away by the cinematography and how well it accentuates the tone of what’s happening in each scene. Eagerly awaiting season 2!
One thing I loved about discovering Severance, in the first few episodes the story was slow to build, there wasn’t that massive hook in the first few minutes, it took its time, and it was the absolutely brilliant aesthetic of the show that made it impossible to look away, that was the hook. So good!
It's scary that it reminded me of Westchester corporate buildings from the 80's for IBM and Mastercard. Reader's digest looked like a college. Not sure why I had just got into this show. It seems great.
