Until ppl understand that they need to flood DEM phone lines demanding how they want the caucus to move forward this will continue. Ppl need to call their elected officials. They respond to the pressure of calls. I called ones who weren’t fr my state/district. We can’t be quiet.

I'm going to tell you why Ossoff & Warnock voted as they did. GA is just barely tinged purple, and Democrats outside the metros struggle. Laken Riley was a Georgia girl going to UGA. Ossoff is up for relection next year. Does anybody want to see Dems lose a Senate seat in '26 & '28 and go all Red?

What am I missing here? I am a Dem & can’t stand Trumpers. I’m sick thinking this mass deportation is wrong. But, what is wrong with arresting people who commit a crime? I’m a firm believer crime needs to be curtailed. Why shouldn’t immigrants be arrested for a crime like anyone else?

I genuinely think it’s a little more complicated than that because ICE is detaining/arresting people who may not have commit crimes. If, for example, you seek asylum or have a visa, you have not committed a crime. But people like that are getting caught up in this.

In addition, I don’t believe a child should get arrested for “criminal” behavior because, as an example, an 6 year old cannot legally commit a crime. The law generally recognizes that you have to be of a certain age and of sound mind to do certain things.

For example, if a 6-year old signs a contract, the contract is void because the child does not have the requisite “legal capacity” to enter into a contract). Similarly, a 6-yr old does not have the legal capacity to commit a crime. So rounding up / arresting children should be legally impermissible.

I understand the separate situation of the unconstitutional roundups, with no signed warrants and grabbing entire groups. Of course all us decent people are against this. I was talking only about the Lacey & Riley Bill that is supported by numerous Dems, but not a majority.

Aha! I think, but could be wrong, that many Democratic voters are basically sick and tired of Democrats agreeing to anything at this point. Like, why do we do anything to vote along with Republicans when they never do it in return. I think perhaps that’s part of it.
