Not sure about the main GOV.UK blogging platform but the FCDO one at the time my team worked on it needed to support a lot more languages (22 IIRC?) including RTL scripts. There were also regional and topic-based aggregator templates. The GOV.UK blogging platform was pretty new at the time.
