if you see a warning saying "Disconnect your console from ethernet/wi-fi". please actually listen to that advice. there's a reason it's there. it's in the "how to use" section for a reason. God

If you are completely disconnected from any network, you see the "offline" older dashboard, AND you are using an offline profile, then it's okay to enable homebrew
If you have any network connection at all, OR you see the new dashboard, OR you're using a Live-enabled profile, then it Is Not
I'd imagine it to be because it'd be considered common sense, I mean it's not like it's exactly rare for Microsoft to ban modded xbox 360s they do it all the time and have done it for ages even before this
Understandable, still you should probably have looked into existing modding community affairs before running a brand new exploit, but as an average end user it aint your fault for not. Did you get banned or is this a more general complaint?
it's not that i got myself banned it's that i didn't know having ethernet plugged in at all but not connecting to xbox live still flags your console (i was trying to ftp the cancelled 007 remaster to my hard drive)
yes i am the reason the tweet happened
feel free to laugh at me
Welp at least your fuckup is mostly inconsequential :)
I did something similar when being an absolute maniac with a modded nintendo switch and intentionally disabled anti ban protections while connected to the internet without thinking of the consequences all so I could update from a downgrade lmaoo
i have no idea if they are able to run checks while the exploit is being performed, but you really shouldn't be trying to see what you can get away with and do what's recommended while using the exploit:
* disconnect the console completely from the internet
* use an entirely offline profile
True, but still there was absolutely NO purpose for me to try hosting a DNS server to try and block Xbox live servers all so I could connect to my WiFi and use aurora properly
Well there was kinda a purpose it's right there but still it's stupid of me because I've got no idea how DNS works :P

See the whole mini thread I made on the other reply to this comment
microsoft actively checks for hypervisor patches as part of the process for connecting
