it's an internal test and was never meant to be seen outside Sony. and i've seen the video, it's garbage. it's not even remotely ready for use in product, even though they're using a mix of their own internal tech plus OpenAI and Meta LLMs. in its current state, no one would accept this in a game

also the use cases here are things no one would ever want or need anyway - the person demoing it is asking things like "how is your health?" or "are these machines dangerous?" which like, if you can see the screen you know the answer. and it takes several seconds to answer each query lol. it's bad

Can't remember who said this, but basically the thing is that you can't make what the AI hallucinates have any canonicity in the game world. The Aloy-bot can say that they need help in the village up north, but the game can't respond to that - there *is* no village up north, the quest doesn't exist.

I’d say people are actually fairly smart in that regard. Players have to figure out and learn a new set of behaviour patterns and abilities for enemies every time they play a new game, and are able to do it pretty damn quick without realizing - also smarter NPCs should adapt to player skill, ideally

For the record, I don't care for AI, would never use it, and don't think it has value for gaming beyond the AI that has already existed in games for decades. Screw Sony. I already didn't renew my PS+ sub, and on my PS5 I'm only playing what I already "owned" prior to that. For everything else, I have a PC. When the PS5 bites the dust, I'll say good-bye to console gaming. Giving money to Sony is just asking to get fucked over and has been for years.
