I tabled at cons in 2017-19 & already noticed the table costs alone shyrocketed over the short 3 years.
As a newbie, I only sold home-produced art prints & broke even. But in 2019, I operated at a loss.
I've looked into cons recently, & the rates are laughably expensive.
The con scene is dying.

LRT Even if I wasn't a seriously immunocompromised person in the Plague Times, I don't think I could ever go back to doing Artist Alley because the entry level is way too high. Between the actual table fees and the expectations of buyers of having mass-manufactured goods, it would be too much $$$

The current generation is already losing 3rd spaces, this is just another way that's happening
But I find it so sad that I was too young/ born at the wrong time to have the opportunity to get much con experience. Y'all will never meet me irl unless I get stupidly rich 😂
