I support what you do and I appreciate you exposing the corruption and lies. Your work is vital but PLEASE stop using AI generated imagery. Hire an illustrator or artist. I can't support the use of AI generated art.
Creative Commons licensing was made for situations like this. Flickr, for example, is filled to the gills with CC images that can be freely used with attribution, and the photographers and illustrators are usually more than happy.
Please hire an illustrator. AI is plagiarism that destroys the planet.
Please also add Alt Text so your images are accessible, it's the done thing on this platform.
Farage earns £98k per month as a pundit. His chicken feed MP's salary does requires little input on his behalf. Besides, his getting elected as an MP was just so he could say Nyah! to those that mocked previous failed attempts.
Except presumably you can’t avoid lots of objectionable people who voted for him? Or lots of the rest who voted Tory despite the last 14 years of awful.
Not a place I plan to visit any time soon
It contains many hints of AI tech - the colour shades and amorphous shapes echoed randomly across the image. Just as a 1950s watercolour *might* look, and just as an AI program *might* seek to emulate.
It would be nice if Bylines could stipulate that AI gen images are *never* used on the platform.
I'd also like to know if it's AI, and would humbly add my voice to those requesting that Bylines doesn't use it. It doesn't look a great deal like Clacton to me
I'm just looking at this comment section in particular. I see a lot of objections to your use of generative AI, but this was the only one I saw you respond to.
Not fair. My brother and his family live there. They vote Labour. They are good people. My brother worked hard to help the Labour candidate in the election. They don’t deserve Farage.
Jovan deserved better than the Labour Party. They treated him like shit. Starmer was jealous of the media attention he was getting and he was ordered to stop campaigning and leave Clacton - so they ended up having to give money back to a donor to his campaign! Appalling.
I’m not disputing there were people that worked hard for other parties. I blame the media for being squarely on the farrage tries again bus. Other parties should have highlighted how he would never be there. We all knew it
Please don't use generative AI. It's unethical and environmentally damaging. There are plenty of photos of Clacton available under Creative Commons licenses that you could have used instead, assuming that you could not afford to commission a human illustrator.
Thanks for the reply - I think that everyone who's mentioned it just really values human creativity, which does include the writing you do. We all want to support artists, writers, and musicians and want to see them supporting each other. Thanks for acknowledging.
We have our weekly editors-in-chief meeting tomorrow and the use of AI image has been added to the agenda for discussion and to create a network-wide policy.
If we can't trust you not to use AI for your illustrations then why should we trust you not to use AI in your articles? Using AI is shameful and by doing so you are legitimising copyright thieves. Do better.

It is appreciated.
I believe in Bylines so this means a lot.

(I am not being rude.)

It would seem out of character if it is AI!
Years ago someone asked us to make hyperlinks cover more text, to increase accessibility. So we did!
*suddenly becomes very British*
I don't want to cause a fuss.
