I'd completely forgotten about that show! I must have seen it 15 years ago now. I was rather underwhelmed. It felt bit tired so I'm glad you had a better experience!

There are a lot of classic elements for sure. The first time I saw it, a friend had arranged the tickets and the whole thing was a surprise so I came with no expectations which probably helped. This time, I had my daughter with me who found the whole thing hilarious which added to the charm.
I'm pleased to hear that! I wonder if we were just unlucky. It was in a most-empty Royal Festival Hall which probably doesn't generate the best atmosphere.
I also saw it at the Royal Festival Hall the first time but we had stall seats near the front, which is essential for the full experience. Very lively audience at the Harold Pinter yesterday for the matinee.
